We’re unable to educate all pupils on roll at Denewood & Unity Academies. By knowing pupils’ previous academic outcomes and knowing their future wishes enable us to appropriately plan these placements at other education establishments so that pupils can continue to learn and grow into successful citizens, ready for the world post-16.
We utilise more than 15 of these establishments across Nottingham City and sometimes beyond into the County if the need is there. Pupils fall into 2 pathways; GCSE or functional skills and both pathways enable vocational learning to occur as well. We work alongside the Local Authority who complete compliance and quality assurance checks and we also complete our own quality assurance and monitoring arrangements 3 times a year.
Pupils are able to access a range of GCSE’s; maths, English, science. At times, we have been able to ensure continuity of learning with particular GCSE’s that aren’t typically taught in our providers. All pupils will have access to functional skills maths and English and, if there is a desire, ICT as well. Vocationally, pupils can access construction, mechanics, sport, health & social care, hair & beauty, music technology and more.
